Enjoying the great outdoors this winter

I came across this article from Lonely Planet about embracing winter like a Norwegian and felt it was a concept that we should adopt, especially this year when we are so restricted with what we can do. Although we all get outdoors to some extent during the winter, for those of us who suffer from cabin fever (that’s definitely me!) coming up with new ways to make it fun can make winter much more bearable.

We recently bought a fire pit for the garden and it has been so much fun making s’mores and sitting outside enjoying a glass of wine after dinner. It’s surprisingly warm once you get it going! Definitely need to make this a regular thing through the winter and maybe even get the barbecue out for some hot dogs too.

Finding new walks in the country and packing a flask of hot chocolate and some biscuits makes walking much more appealing for the kids. I’ve also found that just making the effort to wrap up warm and have a cuppa in the garden really helps to lift my mood even when it’s cold and grey.
